Dysport® injections, manufactured by Ipsen (France), are aimed at dynamic facial lines elimination and hyperhidrosis treatment

Dysport® is a medical solution, complex botulinum toxin type A, a peripherally long-acting muscle relaxant (myorelaxant).

Dysport® acts upon neuromuscular junctions helping muscles to relax in the areas of continual tension and wrinkle formation. The relaxation effect results in significant wrinkle smoothing and skin aligning. Besides, it eliminates the cause of mimic wrinkles appearing – the habit to contract different facial expression muscles.

Pharmacodynamics Dysport®

Clostridium botulinum toxin type А acts as an effective agent and inhibits the release of acetylcholine (it is an organic chemical that functions as a neurotransmitter — it sends signals to CNS) at the neuromuscular junction, what is followed by the weakening of muscles spasm in the area of injection.
The restoration of neurotransmission occurs gradually as new nerve endings are formed and develop contacts with a post-synaptic motor end-plate.

Indications for Dysport® use in aesthetic medicine

Temporal correction of dynamic wrinkles of the upper face (glabellar lines, forehead lines and canthal lines “crow’s feet”) in adults.

Indications for wrinkle lines correction of the upper face only Dysport®

  • Significant gravity ptosis of facial tissues
  • Significant upper and lower eyelid hernias

Dysport® injection areas in the upper face

  • Lateral canthal lines / “crow’s feet”
  • Glabellar lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Vertical line between the eyebrows

The purpose of Dysport® injections during wrinkle correction in the upper face

The main purpose of Dysport® injections is the reduction of the quantity of big and small wrinkles with a relaxed facial expression, but not the complete elimination of facial muscle irritability. Thus, the results are evaluated on the basis of the skin state during relaxation.

The balance between the muscles lowering and raising eyebrows is maintained due to the fact that by weakening the action of one set of muscles and removing wrinkles Dysport® injections release antagonistic muscles. For this reason, it is so critical to maintain the balance and ensure harmonious facial expressions.

WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS

  • Dysport® should be used with precautions in the following cases:

Marked facial asymmetry, ptosis, dermatochalasis, deep scars, patients with dense skin, the absence of the evident smoothing of vertical mimic lines between the eyebrows because of mechanical skin stretching.

Dysport® usage may lead to asthenic reactions, muscular weakness, dizziness, and visual disturbance. In case of such symptoms, the driving of the vehicles or the use of moving machinery may be dangerous.

Preparation procedure before the injections of Dysport®

Before the administration of Dysport® injections, patients should avoid the use of antibiotics and alcohol. Please refrain from massage and other cosmetological procedures and treatments. To avoid the increased blood flow to the face please do not sleep on your stomach the day before the injection of Dysport®.

Increased blood flow circulation in the area of injection may lead to premature botulinum toxin disintegration. Please follow the preparation recommendations for Vistabel®/ Botox®, injections to achieve the expected effect from this cosmetological procedure.

The rehabilitation period after the injection of Dysport®

Please refrain from sauna visits, sun exposure, intensive sports activities within two weeks after the procedure. It is also recommended to exclude alcohol and food that retains fluid in the body (spicy, flour-based, sweet).
