PRP – Plasma theraphy in the treatment of urinary incontinence in women by the RegenLab® Laboratory (Switzerland)

RegenLab® PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy is a new minimally invasive treatment for urinary incontinence in women.

RegenLab® PRP Therapy treatment of urinary incontinence in women is an injection technique that involves the use of platelet-rich autologous blood plasma of the patient, introducing into the problem areas of the urogenital zone, which triggers the natural mechanisms of restoration of damaged tissues, eliminates foci of inflammation, and triggers general regenerative processes .

The material used for treatment is completely autologous and safe, since the procedure is performed by injection of plasma obtained from the blood of the patient herself.

Urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine from the urethra. It is one of the most common diseases in women. According to statistics, about 40% of women face a similar problem in their lives. Most commonly, symptoms of urinary incontinence occur in women after 40.

Types of urinary incontinence and their symptoms

  • Stress urinary incontinence – involuntary loss of urine during laughter, coughing, sneezing, physical exertion, as a result of increased intra-abdominal pressure.
  • Urgent urinary incontinence – loss of urine without or with an irresistible urge, as a result of hyperactivity of the bladder. Constantly urging urination forces women to be in the immediate vicinity of the toilet, they plan their travel route in advance and tie it to the location of the toilets.
  • Mixed urinary incontinence – a combination of stress and urgent types of urinary incontinence, in which there is a loss of urine both when laughing, coughing, sneezing, physical exertion or changing body position, and with urges to urination.

Major causes of urinary incontinence

  • Congenital anatomical abnormalities;
  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness;
  • Traumatic birth;
  • Hard physical labor;
  • Neurological diseases;
  • Previous pelvic surgery;
  • Age-related changes in the body.

A diagnosis of urinary incontinence is usually straightforward. Typically, such patients complain of involuntary urination, mainly in cases when intra-abdominal pressure rises. With the advent of hormonal disorders, the degree of urinary incontinence becomes more pronounced.

Effects of RegenLab® PRP Therapy

On the front wall of the vagina, there is point G which is not only one of the most important erogenous zones, but also the area responsible for the retention of urine.

Some scientists call this area a female prostate. The introduction of platelet-rich plasma into the space between the vaginal wall and the urethra in the area of point G allows one to reduce the volume of the vagina and fix the urethra.

Thus, urinary retention during physical exertion, coughing and laughter is achieved.

This technique allows not only to relieve symptoms of urinary incontinence, but also to improve the quality of sexual life. So, the introduction of plasma increases the sensitivity of point G.

Unlike narrow-profile drugs that affect the specific cause of the disease, the use of RegenLab® PRP Therapy in the treatment of urinary incontinence helps to restore organs in general.

Benefits of the RegenLab PRP Therapy

  • High efficacy and results rating;
  • Painlessness (in some cases it is possible to use local anesthesia, which is extremely rare, women tolerate this procedure easily);
  • Atraumatic and minimally invasive: plasma is injected at specific points in the vagina;
  • No side effects and recovery period;
  • No age restrictions;
  • It is performed on an outpatient basis without the need for a hospital stay.

Procedure of RegenLab® PRP-Therapy

PRP RegenLab® therapy is carried out using the following protocol:

  • Venous blood sampling in the patient, which is placed in special RegenACR® tubes;
  • Placing RegenACR® tubes in the RegenLab® centrifuge with a special gradient, where they are centrifuged for 3-5 minutes;
  • The resulting autologous drug is inserted into specific points of the vagina using a thin needle.

Contraindications to the RegenLab® PRP-Therapy

  • Acute infectious diseases;
  • Viral hepatitis B and C;
  • Systemic diseases;
  • Allergic reactions to anticoagulants;
  • Immunosuppressive conditions;
  • Blood-clotting disorder;
  • Pregnancy and lactation;
  • Mental disorders;
  • With a personal history of oncology;
  • Age under 18 years.

Effects of RegenLab® PRP-Therapy

  • The first effect of improving the turgor of the anterior vaginal wall is observed after 3 weeks;
  • After 2-3 courses of RegenLab® PRP Therapy, the elasticity of the anterior vaginal wall is restored by at least 50%, which accordingly improves urethral fixation and ultimately helps to “restore urine retention”;
  • By modeling a trauma of the submucosal layer of the anterior vaginal wall, regeneration processes are activated;
  • Full retention of urine is possible only after applying the full course;
  • For a supportive effect, 2-3 courses per year are recommended.

Recommendations after the RegenLab® PRP-Therapy

  • After injection of the drug, it is recommended to refrain from visiting a bath, sauna, bathing, tanning bed and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (tan) for 7 days;
  • 5 days after RegenLab® PRP-Therapy it is necessary to wear cotton underwear
  • Sexual abstinence for 3 weeks.

When using PRP RegenLab® therapy, platelets retain their activity after the introduction into the skin for about 10 days. During this time, there is the release of useful substances (growth factors) from platelets, which leads to a powerful stimulation of rejuvenating and restoring processes in the skin.

RegenLab® PRP Therapy Course

  • The procedures of the RegenLab® PRP-Therapy are carried out 1 time in 7-14 days;
  • The course of treatment is from 2 to 5 procedures.
